I like my porridge creamy, how ‘bout you?

Porridge is a dish that has existed for longer than humanity. Okay, maybe I took it too far there. Point being: oats cooked in water or some form of milk are a tradition loved and appreciated by many. This is not only one of the healthiest breakfasts that you can possibly treat your body to but also so quick to make and seriously delicious - it’s all about the toppings, guys.

Servings: 1
Total time: 10 min

For the porridge

Ingredients

3/4 cup oats

3/4 cup water

3/4 cup plant-based milk

pinch of salt

optional

1/4 tsp cinnamon

toppings

fresh fruit

peanut butter

yoghurt of choice

toasted nuts or seeds

maple syrup or honey

Instructions

  1. In a small pot, combine the oats, water, plant-based milk and cinnamon in case you’re using any. Cook the porridge with occasional stirring until the consistency is creamy (~5min).

  2. Scoop the porridge into your favourite bowl and top with some fruit like banana slices and berries (I also cooked some fresh plums in a pot along with some cinnamon), a dollop of golden peanut butter, yoghurt of choice and toasted nuts (such as hazelnuts, I love those in my porridge!). This bowl is your canvas, paint whatever you’re in the mood for today!
