Curcuma Porridge with Cinnamon Spiced Apple
Healthy and oh, so tasty
Breakfast. A good time of the day because it promises food. Are you into porridge? Me too. I usually simply stir oats, water and oat milk into a creamy consistency, add a sprinkle of cinnamon and then add berry chia jam, roasted nuts and peanut butter. Turmeric is my go-to spice when cooking curry but it also tastes really delicious in our favourite breakfast bowl – it adds not only colour but also antioxidants. Let’s cook!
Servings: 1-2
Total time: 15 min
For the porridge
Ingredients
3/4 cup oats
3/4 cup water
3/4 cup plant based milk
1/2 tsp turmeric
Instructions
In a small pot, heat the oats, water, plant based milk and turmeric. Stir occasionally and cook for about 5 minutes or until the consistency is creamy.
In a pan, heat the coconut oil and fry the apple along with the raisins and cinnamon.
Serve the porridge in a bowl, top with the fried apple and add the roasted nuts as well as a drizzle of your favourite sweetener.
You took your time this morning to prepare a warm and nourishing breakfast – this is worth a lot. Appreciate this time of the day that you dedicate to your health.
