Sourdough French Toast

Sourdough is good dough

I still had a bit of homemade sourdough left, so I whisked up some oat milk, cinnamon, egg and maple syrup to make French Toast. So, so, so good! Served with a mouthwatering, ripe peach , a dollop of coconut yoghurt and a sweet drizzle of maple.

Get yourself a portion of this, you won’t regret it!

For the french toast

Ingredients

4 slices of sourdough bread

1/2 cup (125ml) oat milk

1 tbsp maple syrup

1 egg

dash of cinnamon

butter or coconut oil for frying

serve with

1 ripe peach (or other fruit)

coconut yoghurt

more maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Whisk milk, egg, cinnamon and maple syrup in a small bowl. Place the bread slices in this mixture and allow for both sides of each slice to absorb the liquid.

  2. Melt 1 tbsp of butter or coconut oil in a frying pan, then fry 2 slices at a time until golden brown from both sides. Repeat with the other two slices.

  3. Stack the French Toast on your plate, then add a dollop of coconut yoghurt, some fresh peach slices and drizzle some more maple syrup. An extra dash of cinnamon is also highly recommended!
